The available family accounts disagree about her biological parentage: MacCallum says she was biologically a daughter of one of Andrew’s sisters, while another derivative profile assigns Andrew and Flora as parents. This account therefore describes Andrew and Flora as her recorded household/social parents but does not state biological parentage as settled.

John Robert MacFarlane — Andrew/Flora son
John Robert MacFarlane’s full delayed birth application, signed by himself on 9 December 1966, reports his birth on Pictou Island on 3 March 1900 and names Andrew MacFarlane and Flora MacPherson as his parents. It describes Andrew as a deceased fisherman born on the Island and places the applicant at White Sands/Murray River, Prince Edward Island. An attached census-search extract quotes John R., one, in 1901 and Robert, eleven, in 1911 in Andrew and Flora’s household; those extracts are later certified comparisons, not a new inspection of the original census pages. An attached church certificate instead names his mother Flora MacDonald and records baptism on 16 August 1900. That maternal-surname discrepancy remains explicit; the application’s MacPherson agrees with the independently documented Andrew–Flora marriage and Flora’s death record. The application and copied certificate are retrospective evidence, not a contemporary birth return.
