Island story
Margaret Ann MacLean was recorded as Margaret Ann McCallum when she married John Hector McLean at the First Church manse in Pictou on 20 April 1922. She was twenty-two, born and resident on Pictou Island. The registration names her parents as Duncan H. McCallum and Helen McSwain; the middle initial and maternal surname follow the retained transcription, and no wider parental identity is inferred. Their son Gerald Oswald’s contemporary birth entry of 8 August 1922 independently names Margaret Ann McCallum. The 1931 census records her as Maggie with John H. and children Gerald, Joyce, Flossie, Anderson and Alvin. Her shared Church Cemetery memorial C-013 records 1900–1969; daughter Joyce is commemorated nearby at C-014. These sources establish her maiden name and parental names without assigning her father to another Duncan MacCallum branch.

Incomplete names and identity candidates
Name and accepted-alias matches appear before initials-only possibilities. Within each group, records with no known date conflict and an accepted connection to the selected relative appear first. This is an evidence ordering, not a probability. Compare generation, known relatives, census units, memorials and dated sources in each record. No suggestion changes a family relationship.
