Island story
Katherine MacKenzie Rankin is commemorated with her husband Lauchlin at Pioneer Cemetery memorial R1-012, which records her years as 1881–1968. The 1931 census records Katherine, age forty-nine, with Lauchlin, their young son Edward and her aunt Ellen MacKenzie. The household connects two generations of the Rankin family with Katherine’s MacKenzie relatives. Further details of her own life and work have not yet been established. The original death registration independently confirms the 1968 death year.
