Jessie Ann MacFarlane

Jessie Ann MacFarlane

Jessie Ann MacFarlane is recorded as a daughter of Allan MacFarlane and Annie W. MacCallum in a retrospective duplicate birth return reporting birth on Pictou Island on 26 September 1909. Allan was described as an Island-born farmer; the return was made in July 1928. Although filed under a 1913 registration sequence, it does not report a 1913 birth. The entry is stamped duplicate and cross-refers to a separate delayed registration. This later return supports the existing Allan–Annie family connection while preserving the distinction between the reported birth date and the registration history.

Wilma Kathlyn MacFarlane

Wilma Kathlyn MacFarlane

Wilma Kathlyn MacFarlane’s delayed application, filed in August 1985, reports her birth on Pictou Island on 5 April 1921 to Allan MacFarlane and Annie MacCallum. Its applicant, Susan D. MacAuley, explicitly describes herself as Wilma’s sister. Wilma married Dennis Newton at St James Rectory, Pictou, on 27 April 1944. The original marriage identifies her as an Island-born and resident housekeeper, with the same parents; its registration number 125575 exactly matches the marriage cited in the delayed birth application. Dennis was a soldier, a private. The marriage gives Wilma’s age as twenty-two, whereas the later reported birth date would make her twenty-three; both statements are retained. Attached census and National Registration search reports are later extracts. A later search report’s Newton surname is not evidence that she was already married in 1940.

Susan Danella MacFarlane / MacAuley

Susan Danella MacFarlane / MacAuley

Susan Danella MacFarlane was born on Pictou Island on 7 December 1915, according to her contemporary birth return, which names Allan McFarlane, an Island-born farmer, and Annie Wilkins McCallum as her parents. She married Charles E. Peter MacAulay in Pictou on 11 October 1945. The marriage describes her as twenty-nine, born and resident on the Island, with the same parents; Charles, thirty-five, was a Canadian Army sergeant born in Cape Breton and resident in Pictou. Susan D. MacAuley is explicitly named as a sister in Wilma’s and Hugh’s delayed birth applications. The parent pair, names and chronology support Susan’s adult MacAulay/MacAuley comparison; the spellings are retained as source variants. The wedding witnesses are not assigned kinship merely from their names.
