Island story
Catherine A. MacDonald MacCallum is commemorated with Arthur Roy MacCallum at Church Cemetery memorial C-012, which records her as 1911–1997. Her delayed birth application records Catherine Adeline MacDonald, born on Pictou Island on 16 June 1911, with parents John William MacDonald and Hughena MacDonald. The attached certified census search identifies Catherine, aged nine, with John W. and Hughena in 1921, Cassie, nineteen, with John C. and Maggie in 1931, and Catherine A. MacCallum, twenty-nine, with husband A. Roy MacCallum in 1941. Those extracts were issued later and are not fresh inspections of the original census pages. Roy also certified a family-Bible entry naming the same parents and birthday. Their son Elroy Dunn MacCallum’s obituary independently identifies Arthur Roy and Catherine (MacDonald) MacCallum as his parents. Together these sources connect the existing Catherine–Roy family to John William and Hughena. The separate eleven-year-old Catherine MacDonald in the 1931 Island census remains a different person.

Incomplete names and identity candidates
Name and accepted-alias matches appear before initials-only possibilities. Within each group, records with no known date conflict and an accepted connection to the selected relative appear first. This is an evidence ordering, not a probability. Compare generation, known relatives, census units, memorials and dated sources in each record. No suggestion changes a family relationship.
Contribute evidence or a correction →Census households · 1911
195 enumerated residents in 37 original census family units. These are source households, not inferred genealogical branches or street addresses. Cancelled entries are excluded; source spellings and recorded ages are retained.
A person-to-household crosswalk has not been accepted here for this selection. Browse the source units independently below.
Other census years remain in the existing research records pending equivalent public field and identity review.

Hughena MacDonald
Hughena MacDonald
Hughena MacDonald married John W. MacDonald at Pictou on 20 July 1907. The original registration records her as seventeen and him as twenty-four, both born and residing on Pictou Island. Her parents are recorded as Angus and Adelina; his as John C. and Maggie. No maternal maiden surname is supplied by this record. Catherine Adeline’s delayed birth record independently names John William MacDonald and Hughena MacDonald as her parents. A 1943 marriage names a widow Hughena Mae MacDonald, but its age differs from the earlier records; that later identification remains qualified.
