Island story
Christena G. Whiteway Rankin is recorded in the 1931 Pictou Island census as the wife of George Rankin in a large west-end household that included Mae, Robert, Bertha, Ernest, Anna and Ida. Her Pioneer Cemetery monument with George at R2-013 records Christena G. Whiteway Rankin, 1886–1952. The household later connects directly to the biography of their son Ernest “Ellwood” Rankin, farmer and ferry operator. Current evidence establishes Christena’s family position strongly, while her own earlier life and Whiteway ancestry remain subjects for further research. Ida Doris Rankin’s delayed-birth registration names George Rankin and Christena Whiteway as her parents, independently confirming the family connection.

Incomplete names and identity candidates
Name and accepted-alias matches appear before initials-only possibilities. Within each group, records with no known date conflict and an accepted connection to the selected relative appear first. This is an evidence ordering, not a probability. Compare generation, known relatives, census units, memorials and dated sources in each record. No suggestion changes a family relationship.
