Overview

Island story

Christy Ann MacDonald MacCallum is commemorated at R7-001 with Charles Creighton MacCallum. The 1931 census independently records Christy, age sixty-four, as Charles’s wife and Roy MacCallum as their son, giving a strong household bridge to the later Roy MacCallum biography. Her original marriage to Charles is recorded at Pictou on 31 October 1900 and names her parents as Archibald and Jessie. Her death registration records her death on Pictou Island on 21 July 1954, describes her as Charles C. MacCallum’s widow and a lifelong Island resident, and reports her birth as 10 June 1866. It names her father as Archibald MacDonald, born at Caribou, Nova Scotia, and her mother as Jessie MacKenzie, born on Mull, Scotland. These records support the established natal-family comparison with the Archibald and Jessie couple commemorated at R5-010. The informant is explicitly her son Duncan C. MacCallum; that initial is not silently equated with Duncan W. MacCallum. Island burial is recorded on 23 July 1954, without establishing an exact cemetery plot.
