Island story
Elwood Cameron Rankin was born and raised on Pictou Island. His obituary identifies his parents as Ernie and Janet Rankin and his brother as Robert. It records a long fishing career as well as farming, gardening and earlier industrial work. Robert’s obituary independently describes the brothers fishing together for thirty years for lobster, herring, scallops and mackerel. Elwood is commemorated at Church Cemetery memorial C-020.
