Island story
Robert George Rankin was raised on Pictou Island, a son of Ernest and Janet MacDonald Rankin and brother of Elwood Cameron Rankin. His obituary records five years of Army service with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and about thirty years fishing lobster, herring, scallops and mackerel with Elwood. It also records work in western Canada and an interest in gardening.
