Overview

Island story

Janet MacDonald is commemorated with Hector MacDonald at R8-006 in Pioneer Cemetery, where the memorial records 1871–1938. PIHS’s accepted family reconstruction identifies her with Janet/Jessie E. MacCallum MacDonald, Hector’s wife. William Creighton “Bill Cole” MacDonald’s delayed birth and 1922 marriage explicitly name his mother as Janet McCallum and father as Hector MacDonald. Janetta May MacDonald Volpe is also linked as their daughter in the existing family network. Janet and Jessie spellings remain recorded as source variants; no additional namesake or descendant is inferred. In the 1921 household headed by Hector, Dorothy and Ralph are recorded as his granddaughter and grandson; the 1931 household again records them as grandchildren. Their immediate parents have not been identified. The records identify their place in Hector’s household but do not identify the intervening parent generation.
