Island story
Susanna Robertson MacCallum is commemorated with Daniel MacCallum at Pioneer Cemetery memorial R9-011, which records 1852–1915. Their original marriage registration records her as Susanna Robertson, aged 18, born and resident on Pictou Island, marrying Daniel at Pictou on 4 May 1870. It names her parents as William and Helen Robertson and describes her father as a teacher. Her children Annie Wilkins and Charles Creighton are connected by parent-bearing marriage records; Charles’s death certificate independently names his mother as Susan Robertson. Susan’s death registration records an Island-born widow resident on the Island who died on 8 January 1915. Its age is written as 52 with the annotation “Doctor says 62”; the conflict is retained. It does not name her parents or husband. A family tree’s different parents, James Robertson and Jessie McDonald, and 9 January death date are not adopted over these originals. The identity of William and Helen beyond the marriage entry remains unresolved.
