Overview

Island story

William MacLean, commemorated with Cora Jane MacCallum MacLean at R3-002, married Cora at Pictou on 15 December 1909. He was a twenty-seven-year-old bachelor farmer born and resident on Pictou Island, with parents Charles and Anna Bell. Cora’s 1936 death registration explicitly identifies William as her husband and informant. His own death registration records his death on Pictou Island on 10 March 1946 and describes him as a widowed fisherman and farmer. It names his wife as Cora (Jane), his father Charles MacLean and his mother Annabell MacCallum, and retrospectively reports his birth on the Island on 8 May 1882. Burial there is recorded on 11 March, without an exact cemetery or plot. The nurse informant’s stated relationship was none. Their son Hugh Dan’s 1936 death registration names William as father and informant, separately corroborating the William–Cora household.
