Island story
Charles D. “Charlie Dan” Patterson is commemorated with Agnes MacCallum Patterson at R4-015. The earlier transcription gives an impossible lifespan of 1965–1947; the memorial photograph and the 1931 census support a birth in the mid-1860s. PIHS lighthouse research identifies Charles as the first keeper of the West Lighthouse when it opened in 1905, with service reported to 1933.
