Overview

Island story

Charles Creighton MacCallum is commemorated with Christy Ann MacDonald MacCallum at Pioneer Cemetery memorial R7-001. The 1931 census records him as a general farmer, aged 58, with Christy and their son Roy, connecting the family with Arthur Roy MacCallum’s later Island story. The original marriage registration records Charles C. McCallum and Christie A. McDonald marrying at Pictou on 31 October 1900; both were Island-born and resident there. It names his parents as Daniel and Susan and hers as Archibald and Jessie. Charles’s death certificate records his death on Pictou Island on 16 December 1940, describes him as a lifelong resident and farmer, and names Dan MacCallum and Susan Robertson as his parents. This supports his connection to the existing Daniel/Susanna family at R9-011. His 1873 birth is recorded under Charles Martin Crichton McCallum; the maternal surname in that entry remains uncertain and is not silently rewritten as Robertson. The contemporary birth records 25 April 1873, while the death certificate reports 24 April 1872; the day and year conflict remains explicit. Margaret J. MacDonald is identified as his daughter on the death certificate, but her adult canonical identity remains unresolved. Island burial is recorded without an exact plot.
