Island story

Cathy Marie Chesnutt maintained a strong connection to Pictou Island throughout her life. Her obituary records work in personal care and health administration, as well as service to the Pictou Island community through Association committee and director roles. She died at her cottage on the Island in July 2017, and her funeral was held at the Pictou Island Church. The PIHS field survey now identifies her memorial in the Church Cemetery at C-008. Her story represents the continuing Island community in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, when belonging to Pictou Island often included both off-Island work and a sustained family and community presence on the Island.
