Island story

Helen Sutherland MacFarlane was born on Pictou Island on 22 November 1928, according to the later death registration naming Allan MacFarlane and Annie Wilkins MacCallum as her parents. She remained an Island resident and died on 11 December 1953 at Riverton. Her sister, Susan D. MacAulay, supplied the death information. The family's surviving Bible-certificate evidence also names her Helen Sutherland, correcting an earlier mistaken transcription of Helen Muriel. Her years 1928–1953 are commemorated at Pioneer Cemetery R9-017. The reported birth date is retrospective evidence; the sources do not establish an exact burial plot.
