Robert MacFarlane is recorded in the 1931 Pictou Island census as the head of a household that included daughters Annessia and Cassie, son Clarence and granddaughter Janet. His Pioneer Cemetery family monument at R10-008 records Robert MacFarlane, 1870–1956, with Margaret Catherine MacFarlane, Anna Jessie and Clarence Leopold. The cemetery and census records together make Robert one of the clearer later-generation MacFarlane family anchors. This account keeps the exact identities of Annessia/Cassie and their relationship to the named monument under separate source control rather than silently merging name variants.
