Archie and Charlotte: lighthouse and church
Archibald T. “Archie” MacDonald was a longtime East Lighthouse keeper. The church’s First World War tablet names him with the Canadian Railway Troop. His wife was Charlotte MacLean.
Ruth Munro identifies Charlotte as a daughter of Torquil MacLean and Bell. A PIHS photograph names Torquil and Isabella MacLean, supporting the identification of Isabella as Bell.
The 1931 census transcription lists Archie and Charlotte with Lexie, Henry, Frank and Logan. Henry, then seven, appears to be the Henry MacDonald (1923–1980) whose memorial is inscribed “their son”.
