Island story
Adeline “Dollie” MacFarlane married Angus Hector “Happy Angus” MacDonald and became part of one of Pictou Island’s best-documented later family networks. Ruth Munro’s family material and PIHS family research link their household to children including John Alexander “Jack Happy” MacDonald and Andrew “Happy” MacDonald. Adeline is commemorated with Angus at R9-006, where the memorial preserves her MacFarlane maiden surname. The 1921 manuscript places a son John, aged about twenty-four, and a son with a Lauchie/Lauchlin-like name, aged about twenty-six, in the household. The indexed Ester/Landon forms do not faithfully represent those readings. John’s comparison with the later Jack Happy biography retains the separate 1896/1898 birth-year question. The later identity and conflicting birth year remain uncertain; no connection with the Quincy Lauchie household has been established.
