Island story
John H. MacLean and his wife Margaret Ann were part of a large Pictou Island household documented in the 1931 census. Their children included Gerald, Joyce, Flossie, Anderson and Alvin. The family forms an important bridge between the Island’s MacLean family history, fishing community and Church Cemetery record. John and Margaret Ann are commemorated together at C-013, with daughter Joyce at nearby memorial C-014. The surviving evidence currently establishes the family strongly; further occupational and personal detail is still needed before a fuller life narrative can be written.
