Island story
Helen Lorraine MacDonald grew up in the William C. “Bill Cole” MacDonald and Willena “Lena Bill” MacCallum family on Pictou Island. She married Arnold MacMillan, joining two families deeply connected with the Island fishery. Her obituary records work at the Pictou Island Cook House, participation in Sunday school, the church Auxiliary and choir, and a lifelong interest in textile crafts and Island history. She also contributed to the regional library’s lobster oral-history project.
